Liquid-to-water heat pumps are sometimes called geothermal water-to-water heat pumps or ground source heat pumps, but it doesn’t matter what you call them – they do the same thing. Liquid-to-water heat pumps remove heat from the outdoor energy supply source (the ground) via a collector system (a well or ground loop) and move it into your home or commercial building.
In homes, liquid-to-water heat pumps distribute the heat, usually through in-floor radiant heat. In commercial buildings, the heat is usually also distributed through in-floor heat or fan coils. There may also be a secondary use for the hot water such as heating a swimming pool.
