SecureStart

All Nordic residential heat pumps use two-stage Copeland compressors and allow an option add-on called a SecureStart modeule. Like many compressors, these units consume large amounts of current on start-up as they accelerate and build a magnetic field (known as inrush current). Starting currents may reach five to eight times the normal operating current. This can cause light flickering in the home, which some homeowners may wish to reduce.

The SecureStart module dramatically reduces the in-rush current and renders light flickering nearly imperceptible. This product also reduces stress and heating of the compressor, provides some low-voltage protection, and can improve starting in low-voltage conditions.

Once installed, this module will detect and reduce run winding current to provide optimal starting torque. The module provides the additional benefit of continuously monitoring supply voltage to prevent motor stalling under low-voltage conditions.
