Nordic® EMWT- HACW Series
The EMWT-HACW Series is a dual tank energy module heat pump. This heat pump has everything you need for an in-floor system (just like the regular EMW Series) but this model has dedicated internal hot and cold tanks, as well as domestic hot water. The EMWT is considered a light commercial heat pump because it is selected for applications where both heating and cooling is required.
Nordic® EMWT- HSCW Series
The EMWT-HSCW Series heat pump is similar to the two heat pumps above but offers the option of simultaneous heating and cooling, which is ideal for buildings that require both heating and cooling at the same time. To achieve this, the EMWT-HSCW Series has two distribution tanks, one hot and one cold. The two-tank system allows the EMWT-HSCW to simultaneously heat and cool.
What is Simultaneous Heating and Cooling?
That’s a good question, and the answer is fairly technical: When the heat pump operates, it provides chilled water to the onboard cold distribution tank and hot water to the hot water distribution tank. A water well or ground loop provides buffering action to either tank should the water inside go below or rise above the preset values of the computerized on-board electric controller. When hot water is required, it comes from the hot buffer tank, and when cold water is required, it comes from the cold buffer tank. There is no need to cool down and heat up a single tank.
The simultaneous design allows the user to take advantage of both the heating and cooling sides of the heat pump at the same time, in effect doubling the COP from 4 to 8 depending on the circumstances. This is primarily used in large buildings where you may need to use heating on the north side of the building and cooling on the south side, at the same time. We scale up this technology with our large W Series Commercial units, but the EMWT-HSCW is a smaller version meant for light commercial.
