With the introduction of NB Power’s Total Home Energy Savings Program, which offers up to $5,000 to homeowners who upgrade their home heating system to a geothermal heat pump, New Brunswickers have more incentive than ever to improve their home’s energy efficiency. The program guidelines require participating contractors to hold up to date certifications through the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC), and the heat pumps installed must hold ENERGY STAR certification.

If you’re a contractor and you want to brush up on your ground loop installation skills, this post is for you: The CGC is holding a weekend training for geothermal loop installers, here are the details:

Canadian GeoExchange Coalition
Geothermal Loop Training for Installers
Crown Plaza Moncton Downtown
1005 Main Street
Moncton, New Brunswick
July 16th – 18th, 2018
This course is held in English

The same course will also be held in French from November 11th – 12th, 2018.

About the Total Home Energy Savings Program

Under the program requirements, homeowners can claim up to $5,000 in rebates for installing a geothermal heat pump system, and the maximum rebate can be claimed by performing three or more of the upgrades recommended in their home energy assessment. These upgrades range from insulation to new windows, to low-flow showerheads. These upgrades will help lower their energy bills, improve their comfort, and help the environment by reducing their overall energy consumption. The process starts with a home energy evaluation. Once the evaluation is completed, the homeowner will complete their upgrades and after a final evaluation, receive their rebates.

About the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition

The Canadian GeoExchange Coalition is one of Canada’s leading geothermal heat pump associations. The CGC’s mission is to transform the geothermal heat pump industry by promoting the technology and ensuring high-quality installations are performed by competent installers.

Can red seal plumbers become certified geothermal heat pump installers? If yes, I’d be interested in learning more about the geothermal installers course coming up this week. I am the General Manager for Advanced Plumbing and Heating Services Ltd.

      Hi Trish,

Yes, red seal plumbers can become certified. The course you mentioned has already taken place, but we recommend you check the Canadian Geoexchange Coalition website to see when the next training is being held.
